* REMINDER *
NOV. 6th DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME ENDS: REMEMBER TO TURN YOUR CLOCKS BACK ! ! !

PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES:
Parent/teacher conferences are coming up. Please plan to attend the conference for your child. It is very important that we all work together. This is a great way to become informed and to support your child’s learning.

UPCOMING HOLIDAY VACATIONS:
As you make holiday plans, please do not extend school vacations. Every day your child misses from school equals 5 hours of learning. These absences are unexcused - every minute counts!

WINTER NIGHT: Save the Date, December 2, 5:30-7:30 pm. We will have food, crafts, games, music & fun. More information will be coming.

JOG-A-THON:
Thank you all very much, for supporting our biggest fundraiser of the year. A special thank you to the PTC for organizing and making this event a success. Thank you also to Coach Northcote and the prep specialists for holding the Jog-a-thon during prep time. Approximately $11,300.00 was raised from this event.

BOOK FAIRE:
Thank you Mrs. Townsend for organizing our Book Faire. Reading independently and listening to stories being read to them helps our children become great readers.

STUDENTS ON CAMPUS:
Students not eating school breakfast are not allowed on campus before 7:45 a.m. This is for the safety of our students as there is no supervision before this time. Students will not be allowed to play before school starts. Breakfast is served at 7:30 a.m.

EARLY/ END OF THE DAY PICK UP OF STUDENTS: Please remember anytime a student misses instruction, they are missing a valuable piece of their education. When students arrive late or go home early their learning is interrupted and it is difficult for them to understand the whole teaching point of the lesson. Please try to make appointments around school hours. An interruption to get your child interrupts the entire class.
We are now asking families to wait off campus until the bell rings at 2:05. Students are walking back to class at 2:00, so this makes it safer for all.

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION: PTC would like to remind you of the Searles yearlong fundraiser: Box Tops for Education. Please encourage your students to start collecting Box Tops from their favorite food. In order for the class to receive credit, please write the room number on the back of the coupon.

EMERGENCY INFORMATION:
If there is any change of information for you or your child, please let the office know as soon as possible. This includes change of phone numbers (personal or work), address changes, doctor information, and emergency contact information. This is for the safety of our children.

INVOLVEMENT OF PARENTS IN THE TITLE I PROGRAM:
Searles Elementary School convenes an annual meeting to inform parents of Title I student’s requirements and their rights to be involved. Annual meetings are convened in the form of parent education classes in order to gain parental support in alignment of school activities.
Our Title 1 meetings involve parent education. The number of meetings depends on the parent education plan for each year. Meetings are held during the school day and evenings to best meet the needs of our parent population.
Searles School Site Council developed and supports our School wide plan for Title 1 which is inclusive of the Searles School Plan for Student Achievement.
Our monthly newsletter provides information about school programs and activities to all parents in Spanish and English. As a School-wide Title 1 Program School, Searles invites all parents to all meetings concerning our students.
All parents receive grade level standard expectations and an explanation of curriculum, assessments and proficiency levels students are supposed to meet at Back to School Night and individual parent conferences in the fall of every year.
Parents of Searles Elementary can request meetings with teaching staff and /or administration at any time to discuss the education of their child.
